International fastball is coming to Fingal.
The Argentina national team, currently on a week-long tour throughout southern Ontario in preparation for the International Softball Federation World championships next year in Saskatoon, will face the St. Thomas Evergreen Centennials in a doubleheader Tuesday at 7 p.m.
"It's the team they're taking to the world tournament. They wanted to play some better ball this week," St. Thomas manager Bill Horne said.
"We want the kids to come out. It'll be really exciting to see these guys. We hope to draw a good crowd."
Admission is $5, with children 12 years and under free.
Horne adds lots of prizes will be given out, including a bicycle.
It's been close to a decade since the New Zealand national team visited St. Thomas.
"We had a great crowd and they put on a great show," recalls Horne.
The Argentina players are quite familiar with North American fastball.
"A lot of those guys play here already with American teams," said Horne. "Once the tour started they joined the national team."
Coming off a tournament in Wisconsin, Argentina will be in Jarvis on Wednesday and visit Kitchener on Thursday.

St. Thomas, meanwhile will be hosting the Canadian Senior men's championship in September, 2009.
The current Centennials are 13-2-1 in the ISC travel league, second behind the Kitchener Rivershark Twins.
"We're playing well," Horne said. "Our big test was when we went to Monkton, Ont. A lot of people thought we couldn't compete with those teams, but we did well."
At that tournament, St. Thomas suffered a pair of two-run losses and a 4-0 setback against three of the top-10 ranked club teams in North America.
The Centennials sit 15th.
"Our biggest thing is to score when we can score. If we have problems now it's getting people in scoring position and getting them across the plate," said Horne. "Pitching has been absolutely good for us."
Chris Wismer leads the Centennials with a .474 batting average in 42 at-bats.
The Centennials are at a tournament this weekend in Allentown, Pa.
