Does anyone know if Glencoe is redoing their website, when i went there it was saying it was being shut down at the end of the month.. I hope they are doing another one, it was a good site, and was always updated with the league stuff daily. Way better than your actual league one..

The league website will be handled differently this year. The executive made a decision to have our statistitian handle it. Andy Triest is our new stats guy and has indicated an interest in improving the website. We needed someone who is involved with the league to do this and with the loss of Tim Stover there was a real void. I think Andy is up to the task and will do a great job. Give him some time, though, there are some administrative things that need to be taken care of before it can be done.

should keep track of fielding this year to keep things more honest. I know last year if you beat out a throw to first it went down in some books as an error, taking a hit away from someone. People would think twice about charging an error to their own fielders if it was gonna be posted in the stats.. Just a thought..

People should know how to keep score by now. If they don't, maybe it's time to have a scorekeeping clinic. If you know how to do it properly, why don't you volunteer instead of complaining on here.

who cares about Stats? Most guys just want to win games, the guys who maoan and bitch about stats, are just not team guys, they are all bout themselves. They are for fun, the guys that whine and bitch should maybe do something about it instead of sitting on their asses behind their computers eating Doritos. Maybe you should take over your teams stats, and see how it runs, better yet there was a void this off season when Stove retired, you could have stepped up to the plate and took that over. Bitch Bitch Bitch. Same guys do all the work, same guys bitch. Shove your stats up your ass.
Just Win Baby.

Wow that's harsh!! I agree with the sentiment but I might have said it a bit differently! I think "stats" should get the message by now! The league has tried to do the best job possible with the stats. Some scorekeepers are better than others, some have been labeled 'homers' over the years. Highgate seemed to have pretty good numbers every year, MacPherson in Shedden led in damn near every offensive category the year he did his team's stats. The bottom line is that unless you have a league appointed score keeper at every game this stuff is going to happen. What is considered an error by one may not be an error to another.
'Cry a river', relax a little! Spring is here and we'll be playing soon enough

I agree, the Stats are nice, but the winning as a team is better. I have been to a couple of league meetings in the past and hear guys crying about their stats. No one is getting paid to do them on your team. The league guy usually gets paid, but he only goes by what the teams send him. I think the guy "cry me a river" has it right, alot of the leagues don't even keep stats, the site the guy had up last year was the best i have seen around. We all know who sucks and who does not as we face each other game in and game out. I think the quality of umpiring is the main problem around anymore. Last year was the worst i have seen ever. Not just in Aylmer, but from the St T guys too, very in consistent. The former UC needs to take a pill and at least listen before having a short fuse and spazz session , and leave his personal problems out of it. He is getting paid by us, like all the umps are, and that is where we need some improvment. The umpiring I watch in the playoffs especially the finals was brutal. If my team was paying for that crap, i would have snapped alot more than Winship did. Really sucks when you seem to get the same umps over and over again. I know there is a shortage on umps as there is fastball players, but I just wish the ones that were doing were more consistent, because they are getting paid and it is tax free. By us paying them that give us the right to question a call and not get thrown out as soon as I say one word.

I hope you are speaking about the season as a whole because he umpiring in the finals was fair. The only game that could be questioned was game 1 and the umpire himself admitted that he was not at his best. None of the games were decided by the umps. The last game and the tantrum that happened was sour grapes! Nobody likes to lose and nobody likes blown calls to go against them. But, there are a lot of times when an umpire gets ripped because the player is upset with himself not necessarily the call. They also get ripped because they are the only ones getting paid (well not if you're playing Glencoe) and that will always be the case. Doesn't make it right, though! I agree that some umpires need to put personal things aside as do the players. It's a two way street and I'll bet most players who slam umpires would not be near as good at it. Remember that most of these guys do it because they want to, not just because of the $$. It's another way to stay close to the game and be around the players and fans. I don't think any umpire sets out to do a shitty job! I also don't think any player sets out to kick a couple of grounders and strike out three times.

I was sitting right behind homeplate, I know the strikezone, the umping was more brutal in game 3. I play for a team other than the 2 that were in the final, and was more likely cheering for Union, as I am not to fond of the other teams pitcher, and he was no where near getting the same plate as Dan was. As much as I hate Chip, i actually felt sorry for him, I know he brings it on himself most of the time, but what about the rest of the team. I talked to Wolfey after the game and he was in disbelief at the strikezone. We all know he knows the zone. For Union to say it was sour grapes, that is crap you guys were shooting your mouths off pretty good in game 1 when you were losing ,we all do it. If you were on the other end you would have been doing the same thing, I think the plate in game 3 had a lot to do with the outcome of the game. All we ask as players is a fair consistent shake at the plate. The umps keep putting their fees up, but you talk to most players the quality is terrible. It was embarrassing as a league if that is was the best umpire you could bring out in the finals. I did not see game 2 but from what i heard from one of the glencoe guys it was all cummings. We all apprecitate these guys for their time, BUT they are getting paid. Unless you are Winship the rest of us pay to play ball. So to say they do it cause they love it , for some i believe it, but others it is for the money. I have no problem with that, but at least if you are having a crappy night, at least put up with the bull shit, and take some of the critisism, instead of acting like Murry JR. Maybe if the one would take off his hockey mask he could see the plate. Surprise the fees went up again..

The umpiring was questionable in game 1 and game 3. I should know I was the catcher for Union. What everyone does not know is that almost all umpires admit to missing pitches during a game. Those games were no different. I had a strike called against me that was way outside, but as the catcher it is hard to bitch because I spend most games right in front of them. Game 2 umpiring was fine. Cummer threw the best game I have ever caught him. Chipper definitely had some tough calls in game 3 and I hope it was because of huamn error and not bad blood. Believe it or not, most umpires are trying their best and are not intentionally making mistakes. I am guilty of crying about calls and plays at times and I am trying to change that slowly after entering the officiating ranks for basketball. It is not as easy as it looks to officiate. I am just glad that we still have people umpiring. Many have just left to do 3 slowpitch games in 1 night and make more money for easier games. Do you blame them? Just to let you know. I make more refereeing a boys or girls grade 5/6 basketball game then our umps make doing one of our games. Is that right? Their rates are ok is you look at it that way.

Maybe you should take a cut in pay from the kids' games! You're rotten at that too!! Damn teachers, always trying to supplement their income. I thought all that prep time was supposed to be used for preparing lessons not taking $$ from the kids!

If any team has a couple empty cases of beer ...I think the STORM is willing to trade a player...(D B ) from the lack of work brought by him on the week-end!!!! I bet the Storm thanks him for the support in the beer sales?
