The King George VI lift bridge in Port Stanley is scheduled for closure, barely a week after the unofficial start of this year's tourist season.
Elgin county engineer Clayton Watters confirmed Tuesday to county councillors the bridge will close four days for maintenance.
Councillors immediately wanted Watters to assure them the closure, which starts May 29, would be for no longer than four days.
Watters said he advised the company doing the maintenance to use four days to complete the work.
"They said they didn't need that much time, but I'm familiar with the bridge," he said.
Watters said for that time, traffic will be re-routed. Although vehicles won't be able to use it, pedestrians will still be able to walk across the bridge.
