Rumor is big signings come out of Belmont. Going to be releasing players to get new players in. My guess is they will keep Mark McCallum, Todd and Cory Winkworth, Rob Mercer, Rob Burns, Jesse Brown, Duane Gee, Matt Lynch, Craig Walker and Brad Van Gorpe. On the fence are Keenan Haight, and Tyler Lynch. Releasing, could be are as follows: Steve French, Mark Van Vleit, Ken Anton, "Mookie" Wilson, and Darren Shackleton. I have also heard a pitcher from the South Perth league may be or may have already signed for the next year with Belmont.
Interesting news and rumors coming from the Black Sox camp already.

SOFTBALL: Pumas bare angs in opening
09.10.2006 SHANE HURNDELL
Damien Allan's home run was an appropriate touch to Maraenui Pumas' winning start to the Hawke's Bay premier men's softball competition on Saturday.
Allan, 30, is one of the "originals" in the side, having started playing for the club when it was formed by his uncle, Greg Allan, 20 years ago. The third baseman's home run was one of two hit by the Pumas in their 12-6 win against Marist at Akina Park, Hastings.
First baseman Dale Meachen hit the other in the open diamond encounter. Pumas co-coach Ainsley Kara was thrilled with the victory.
"We're just aiming to be competitive in a rare step up to the premier grade, so the win was a bit of a bonus .
.. I mean we've got eight players in our side aged 13 to 17 who are new to this level of play. "Okay, Marist only had Ken on the mound, but our boys still had to hit the ball," Kara said referring to the fact Marist coach Ken Harris who is nearing the "geriatric" category in terms of premier play, was pitching for his team as their Canadian hurler Keegan Haight has yet to arrive in the country.
"They had some pretty handy hitters in their side too, particularly their other Canadian," Kara added, referring to Marist first baseman Steve French, who celebrated his first match in the Bay with a home run.

Who would the pitcher from the South perth league be that Belmont has been talking too? I also heard a couple of players from teams in the St. thomas league jumping ship to join the Blacksox. Here is the lineup that I would see on teh diamond as of right now. Catching-McCallum, 1st-Brad Van Gorpe, 2nd-either Rob mercer or Jesse Brown, ss-Rob Mercer or Cory Winkworth, 3rd-Duane Gee, Pitching-Todd Winkworth, outfield- cf matt Lynch, Rob Burns-rf, either Cory Winkworth, or Tyler Lynch in lf. Either way Cory would be in the starting nine.

I heard that rumor as well, about people jumping ship. I have heard players from Glencoe, and St. thomas going to Belmont. Bart Haight will help in the coaching department for that team in the leadership role. Anyone know of the players who may jump ship from St. Thomas and Glencoe?
