Tri-County Fastball League Players and Coaches this is a message from the Woodstock Umpires Association:
I understand there will be ejections in a game, but to go out side of the game to bash an umpire is unacceptable behaviour.I would like you to pass this email on to your contacts in the league and show them where we stand as umpires.This abuse in the league is not going to be tolerated anymore. There will be swearing in the league and I understand that some umpires will remove players and some will not.I will instruct my guys to remove those players but if they don't, I cannot control that. Different umpires control games in a different way.The biggest issue is that the verbal abuse after the fact and this is unacceptable.I don't have a problem with someone saying their peace, BUT then SHUT IT and no more needs to be said.
I hope you pass this onto the rest of the teams and they accept it.This is a big issue this year and again if this continues we will not have umpires to umpire their games.Our guys just don't want to do the games were the abuse is going to happen.We all know there are a few teams that do this abuse and it has to STOP NOW.
And to the teams that you pass this on to.Stop the abuse of the officials and start to respect the game of fastball we love to play.It is a dying game and we need to promote the game and not bash it.The people doing the bashing of the officials need to step up to the plate and become the official, then they would see how hard it can be.
All and all lets work together to keep this game alive, and remember without officials, there will be no game.

this website is run extremely well with scores every night. it cost us 125 for the year, stdmfl should look into it not bad looking, but you guys dont keep track of that stats? you need to add that too. one thing to keep the scores, but the stats for our league are also needed for our awards, and banquets.. |

You guys are the ones getting paid (TAX FREE) dollars and we are the ones paying you. If we want to bitch at you or about you we have that right. If you cannot take it or listen to it maybe you should not be getting paid anymore. It comes with the territory. It is slo-pitch and soccer that are making the sport of fastball a dying one. And remember with out us players the umpires would not be making good money all summer with out paying the chunk to the goverments. You guys make a bad call , or are having a off night , and OH YES THAT SEEMS TO HAPPEN ALOT ANYMORE, you are gonna hear about and you should. IF you were working at your other job and were having a off day you telling me it is not alright for the people that are paying you to give you a little shit? Give your head a shake Rob, and maybe get off your high horse. Maybe the STDFL can send you down Murry Harvey he has a short fuse and can help you out with turfing guys as soon as they scratch there nuts in the direction of an umpire.. If you guys cannot handle fastball maybe you should go and umpire some hit and giggle, should be less hassle there for ya. Thanks For some of the bashing guys.
But with out your name sign to the bottom line. Then your opinion doesn't mean anything thing to me.
As for the comments about my umpiring abilities your opinion again only.
I love this game of Fastball and my playing days are long gone and some would say I wasn't that good to begin with.
But this my way of giving back to the game we all love to play or officiate.
There is only one reason I still umpire or play the game.Those who know me well will understand this.It's my seven year old son Seth.To watch him at the diamond is priceless. He will be in his umpire gear or in his catchers stuff wanting to play.
To have him near the diamond when someone starts bashing an umpire or me in general,swearing at a bad call,I think is not right.
How many of you,that are bashing me have kids?I don't think this is the right behavior around the diamond.
So all in all to say I'm above the game,I don't think so.I just umpire the best ball so my kid can see all the best players in the world and hope he doesn't lose interest in the game we all love.
Is that selfish or "above the game".
I think not!
